This tour is dedicated to adventurers willing to discover Moorea off the beaten paths. You will travel in a four-wheel drive vehicle inside the crater of the island. Along the way, you will see pineapple plantations and discover an unspoiled and still preserved world. Your safari experience will take you to explore the volcano’s internal crater and incredible landscapes. Visit a pineapple plantation, Moorea’s Lycée Agricole (agricultural school) and its huge vanilla, banana, grapefruit and lemon plantations to name but a few. Then head to a marae before driving to the Belvedere for stunning views of Cook and Opunohu bays. Along the way your guide will drive along the large plantations of the school, where grow bananas trees, grapefruits, lemons, vanilla. He will also provide you with information on the local flora and fauna.

Following that, have a guided tour of a marae: an ancient temple with double function of being both social and cultural. Then, head up to the Belvedere Point sightseeing and appreciate the tremendous view over Cook’s and Opunohu’s bays. The final stop will be the Magic Mountain. You will reach the top by following a little path lined with fruit trees. Up there, you will enjoy one of the most amazing view of the island of Moorea. (On rainy days, and for security reasons, Magic Mountain could be replaced by another stop).

Va’a Initiation Tour

Va’a Initiation TourThis excursion will introduce you to the va’a in history and modern times and give you a chance to paddle a sleek racing va’a on the tranquil waters of Cook’s Bay. The excursion begins with a transfer by boat from your dock (or by car from your reception) to the UC Berkeley Atitia Cultural Center. There you will tour the center, discuss the history of va’a and have a chance to see how va’a were built in ancient times. Then back to the beach your guides will introduce you to the racing va’a and explain how to paddle. Each va’a holds a maximum of five guests and one guide that acts as “peperu” (steersman). Once the group is well settled, then the va’a can start racing the Cook’s Bay As you and your fellow paddlers get used to the pace and stroke you will have a chance to pick up the pace and see how these racing canoes fly. You will then feel like those ancient Polynesia gliding on the ocean and understand why va’a is the first and most popular sport within the Polynesian islands.

Coconut Trail Hike

Coconut Trail HikeYour trek starts at Belevedere Point, the Panoramic Viewpoint in Ôpûnohu valley. On the path crossing the forest you will discover useful Polynesian plants – those used for fishing, those used for dressing, using Banyan tree bark for the making of “Tapa” cloth, those used for lighting at night. Once in the bamboo forest, your guide will show you how to cook using bamboo. We will get you acquainted with the diverse birdsongs and show you where tropicbirds nest. You could watch these wonderful birds using binoculars from the viewpoint. The standpoint is at the foot of the “Mou’a roa” mountain or “Bali Hai Mountain”. Standing on the edge of the Caldera you will stare at the many mountain ridges of Moorea – the “Speared Mountain”, “Rotu’i” and “Tohi’e’a mountains. The way back is by the same path and we will stop at a small waterfall to refresh ourselves. You will then meet the vehicle driving you back to your hotel or guesthouse.

Once the workshops are done, follow the explanations and demonstrations of pareo, tapa, tifaifai … and many other local specialities. Finally, all generations of this family get together to a small traditional show, opening on a delicious typical homemade meal. Throughout the evening you will learn about life today & yesteryear in our islands, family file, tahitian words, our islands History, plants and their medicinal virtues, tapa (plant tissue), tifaifai. Make your own flower crown, basket of palm leaves Participate in the preparation of some traditional foods. Panoramic Hiking Tour

Panoramic Hiking TourThis 7 hour hike begins at Opunohu Valley, the entrance to the volcano then up to the Col des 3 Cocotiers and the Belvedere. From the bottom of the valley you will meander through a forest track amidst Caribbean pine plantations to the path leading to three-coconut tree pass. It is a two hour and a half walk in a forest of native flora leading to some outstanding scenery where you will enjoy fresh fruit. Then, you will go for the next section, the panoramic viewpoint. Just before picnicking you will pass through bamboo bushes, forests of Polynesian chestnut trees, rivers and a new viewpoint. After a coffee break you will be heading to 3-pine pass, through archaeological sites with amazing sight on the valley and Paopao valley. You will then make for the last section of the trip – the foot of Mount Rotu’i and Bounty Plateau. You will end your trip by vast pineapple plantations and taking in the views before heading back to your resort.

Circle Island TourTake a guided tour of the island to admire stunning views around Cook Bay, Opunohu Bay and Belvedere. Moorea, which means “yellow lizard” in Tahitian, is a triangular Island. Its northern side is punctuated by the two large bays : Cook & Opunohu. You will first stop in a Pineapple Plantation where you will learn about the famous and most important resource of Moorea. On the way to the Belvedere Lookout, you will be observing and learning about a “marae” (ancient open air temple) and the ancestral customs. Reaching Belvedere, enjoy the panoramic view over Opunohu and Cook’s Bays as well as over the Rotui Mountain. On your way down, you ‘ll discover the Agricultural school of Moorea along with the many fruit delicacies (local made fruit juice, jam etc ..)

The Tiki Village opens its doors during the day, for a guided tour with or without participation in workshops, and evening, for its famous show of over 60 artists, the biggest review of Polynesia. With or without buffet : Feast on dishes cooked in the Tahitian oven, barbecue & assortment of salads, tropical fruits & homemade pastries, welcome punch & wine included.

The Tiki Village is a re-created Polynesian village. This picturesque village, nestled by the lagoon of Haapiti, depicts the “old Tahiti” with its typical pandanus thatched-roof houses. There are several little huts where Polynesian women or men demonstrate mat weaving, Tiki carving, flower leis and crowns making, tatooing etc… For an entire evening, in a Polynesian village of yesterday, enjoy a typical Polynesian buffet featuring many dishes cooked in the traditional Ground Oven: roasted pig, chicken in Polynesian spinach, bread fruit, taro, fei, fish etc… Barbecue chicken and beef, and different kinds of salad are as well available. With flowers, coconut palms, burning torches…the feast decor and atmosphere are recreated just for you. During your meal, first will perform a trio of musicians, then a spectacular dance show will tell you all about Tahitian legends, all performed in the natural settings of an open air theatre with 60 artists, dancers and musicians. The highlight of the evening is the fire dancing performed by young native men from Moorea.

Designed by the famous golfer Jack Nicklaus, this international 18-hole course was opened in 2007. It is just minutes from Moorea airport and the ferry port. Moorea Green Pearl is picture perfect. Holes 1-9 are perfectly positioned around clear ponds whilst holes 10-18 are uniquely positioned in the middle of an extinct volcano with some of the best views in the world.


Moorea – Skydive Excursion

 

Initiation to Sky Diving

After a 15-minute theoretical training on the basics of parachuting, climb to 3000 meters above Moorea and experience the intensity of Skydiving: about 40 seconds of pure pleasure at nearly 200 km/h in a tandem parachute with your instructor, followed by 5 to 7 minutes of flying in the gentle Polynesian air, parachute open. Expect a soft landing thanks to the expertise of your instructor, whose sole concern is providing you with this new sensory experience while keeping you completely safe.

Operates everyday, 2 skydivers per flight. Passenger’s weight is not to exceed 90 kg. No scuba diving 24 hours before sky diving. 12 years old minimum with parental consent signed by both parents. You should not be pregnant, subject to heart disease or known inner ear sickness.
